CLUB BUSINESS

Our May 3rd Business Meeting was well attended.

Nancy DeRitter (MPHS Interact Counselor) and Emily Padovano (MPHS Interact President) provided and update on some of the happenings t the MPHS Interact Club. The Club is in process of acquiring 3,000 US Flags which they will plant on the school grounds on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, 9/11, and other important holidays. They are cloging in on raising enough money to purchase the Flags. (Our Cub made a contributon toward the effort). They would like to get the Flags in tie to plant them at the May 19th Car Show. If you would like to contribute, contact Russ Kamp for details.

Don't forget to volunteer to help out at the MPHS Car Show on May 19. We need help setting up, manning the barbque, and breaking down.

Emily Padovano also recently completed a major requirement towards her Girl Scout Gold Award. She presented to the MPHS School Body about Rotary, Interact, the Gift of Life Program, and Rotary Youth Exchange. She invited Carmen Platek to join her. Carmen spoke about her experiences as a Gift of Life and a Youth Exchange host. Carmen did her usual excellent job. Congratulations to Emily on her Gold Award.

John Adams then presented Emily with a special award from the District.

The Club also used the occasion to hold a “baby shower” for Dave and Stephanie O’Brien. The Club had a number of gifts for the expectant mother, and we shared a delicious cake in honor of the upcoming addition to the O’Brien family. We wish the mother and baby an easy birth and good health, and we look forward to details on gender and name.

The Club will be participating in Wyckoff Day on Saturday, June 2. We need volunteers to be a the Booth from about 11:00 (to set up – the event starts at noon) until about 4:00 (with breakdown after that). This year Wyckoff Day is running the "Vendor Fair" from noon until 4:00, and then from 4:00 until 8:00 there will be a grand party with music, dancing, and other diversions. See Andy Garlick or Paul Platek to sign up to help.

The deadline is closing in on this year’s Super 50/50 Raffle. Please get your tickets and money into Cindy Perrotta or Tom Madigan very soon.
