Volume 60   Number 2
Welcome to the resurrected Hartman Gazette, the official Bulletin of the Rotary Club of Wyckoff-Midland Park. The Bulletin is named after John Hartman (1924-2002) a long time member of the Club and a PDG for District 7490.

Welcome to the 2019-2020 Rotary Year!

We Have a New Gift of Life Child
Club President Paul Platek and his wife, Carmen, welcomed another Gift of Life Child to their home last week. Hans and his mother, Cairlyn, are from the Philippines, Hans is only 15 months old.

Cairlyn told us that she heard about Gift of Life from a relative and visited a Gift of Life mission in the Philippines where she met Jennifer Padolina, our District's Gift of Life committee Chair. Jennifer started the process and Westchester Medical Center agreed to perform the surgery.

Hans and Cairlyn are the umpteenth family (there have been so many we have lost count) Paul and Carmen have welcomed to their home. We will be sharing the cost of Hans' surgery with the Paramus Rotary Club.

They will be here for several weeks - we will provide regular updates on Hans' progress.
New Member Update
Long time Rotarian Evan Ardelle joined our Club last week. Evan has been a member of various Clubs in the District, and has been our guest for some time.

Evan said he has been impressed by the camaraderie, energy, and the incredible work done by our Club.

Having come to know Evan over the past year, we are delighted to welcome him to our Club.
This Year's Rotary Theme:
ROTARY CONNECTS THE WORLD
This year's Rotary Theme is "ROTARY CONNECTS THE WORLD". The logo is 4 human figures encircling the globe.

Governor John Mitchell will give us all our Rotary Pins displaying the logo when he visits the Club on Thursday, August 22. Mark your calendar now to attend this important meeting.
GOL UPDATE
13 years ago the Plateks welcomed Gift of Life Child Elissa from Honduras to their home. Through the program she received heart saving surgery.

Some of you may remember that she spoke at our Charter Night Celebration last year.

Elissa now lives in Brooklyn and has just graduated with an associate's degree from Tauro College.  She is going to go on to be a psychologist.

Proud to be a Rotarian!
