Shirley and Jorge paid a final visit to our club to say farewell before returning to Peru

Today was the last chance for most of us to bid farewell to Shirley and Jorge before they head home to Peru this coming Saturday.   Jorge had his checkup yesterday and is now able to travel home where his treatment will continue with local doctors.

The time went very fast and we were privileged to have Jorge with us as part of the Gift of Life program, which provides heart surgery to those most in need.  Paul and Carmen Platek were the host family for Jorge and his mom and were very appreciative of the support they got from the club.

Shirley, Jorge's mom, spoke with a lot of emotion as she thanked the club for all that was done for them during their visit.  With Lee Parker translating for her she spoke of how lucky she felt that of all the children in need of help that her son was the one chosen to be flown to America for the operation.  For this she will always be grateful.

We wish them both well as they travel home and hope that Jorge will continue to grow stronger.
