Jay Vidockler provided valuable insights to our Rotary members on the good works and purpose of the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce.

This week we were happy to welcome Jay Vidockler to speak to us about the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce.  He summarized some of the main initiatives that the Chamber is involved in like the Hallloween safe Trick or Treating event for the kids of the town, with over 400 kids taking part this year.  During the Christmas season, the Chamber organizes the Santa riding on the fire truck and provides free pictures with the kids which brings joy annually to a wide range of kids in the town.

Jay provided insight into the challenges for local businesses of competing with the internet where the cost structures are very different.  This makes it hard for local businesses to compete.  However, it is also important for us to support local business as this helps all of us to help the town with taxes.

Very good questions were asked by an engaged audience.  In particular Jay addressed the challenges of 'getting the word out' and advertising the good initiatives of the chamber and its members.  The Chamber carries a listing of local businesses (click here for list) which helps to promote the great services and stores that are available locally.  Several members were not aware that we had a specialty Chocolate store here in town.

There seemed to be a common theme between our two organizations of the great work that we are both involved in and the challenges of making people in the area aware of what is available to them.  We already share a number of common members and will actively look for ways to cooperate in the future.

If you are a new or long-standing resident of the town, there is no better way to get connected than to join either the Chamber of Commerce or our Rotary Club.
