At our weekly Thursday meeting, we were delighted to welcome our Gift of Life recipient, Jorge, along with his mom, Shirley.

Our club is involved in many great activities and supporting many charities.  One that is very close to our heart and very real is our support of the Gift of Life program. This is a Rotarian based initiative that has helped more than 16,000 children in emerging countries to receive treatment and operations for heart disease.  In almost every case, these children would not have received treatment for their heart problems.

Our district has helped sponsor and host close to 900 of the recipients of the program.    The Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary club is currently hosting Jorge from Peru, who has come to receive a heart operation in the next few weeks.  Jorge is three years old and charmed everyone privileged to meet him at our weekly morning meeting.  We wish him well as he prepares for the upcoming operation.

Paul and Carmen Platek are hosting Jorge and his mom during their stay in Wyckoff.  This is the 10th Gift of Life recipient that they have welcomed into their home over the years and they are an inspiration to all of us.

If you feel inspired to donate to this worth cause you can do so here.
If you would like to get involved in this or other programs we are involved in, please join us any Thursday at 7:30am in the Brick House in Wyckoff.

Below, Tom Madigan, Club President welcomes Jorge, his mom Shirley and host Carmen to our weekly meeting.
