Our annual project to deliver Dictionaries to all third grade students in any school in Wyckoff and Midland Park has just been completed.

For the last few weeks Rotarians from the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary club have been visiting local schools and presenting dictionaries to the students.  All 3rd grade students in Wyckoff and Midland Park received dictionaries as part of Rotary's outreach.  This program has been running for many years and has proved popular with both students and their teachers.  It is an opportunity for members to speak to the children about the goals of rotary and the Four Way Test.  The kids also have some fun as we have the children look up words like Service and have them read out the definitions.

In Midland Park, Emmy Eliya spoke of how her daughter had carefully packed the dictionary she had received when she was a third grader, when she was going off to College - a treasured possession.  Russ Kamp spoke eloquently of  the goals of rotary in a way that the kids could easily understand.  Peter Brannigan provided a summary of the Four Way Test and how telling the truth leads to a much simpler and happier life.

Earlier in the week  Tom Madigan and Paul Vicente had the privilege of presenting dictionaries to Washington School in Wyckoff, where their grandson and daughter respectively are students - a very special experience for all of them. (see photo below)
