Nicaragua Hurricane Appeal

Hurricane Iota, a Category 5 Hurricane recently devastated small communities in Nicaragua.
Our club has partnered with a local Rotary Club in Ciudad Sandino for this time sensitive fundraiser.
This fundraiser is now closed.  We appreciate everyone's generosity.
 
The fundraiser raised $4,500 which was enough to provide 100 families with 700 lbs of beans for EACH family.  We really appreciate your generosity in helping with this appeal.

Oasis Thanksgiving Turkey Donation

Our club brings Thanksgiving joy to 150 families in Paterson.  Today we were able to deliver 150 Turkeys to Oasis for distribution tomorrow to families in need.
 
Jen Brady, Executive Director of Oasis thanks us for the generous donation and mentioned the great support we give them every year.

Emmaus for Veterans- Tom Frodella

Tom Frodella started this grass roots faith based non-profit.  It is all volunteer.  All profits go directly to aid veterans and their families except for some funds needed for brochures, fliers, etc.  They provide housing, clothing, job training and counseling.

Juan Galloway gave an inspiring talk that opened all of our minds to aspects of being homeless what was a surprise to all of us.  One of the key messages was that whatever profile we may have had in the past of what a homeless person is, that profile no longer applies.

Billy of 'Billys Buddies' Pays a Visit to our Meeting

Although it was an early start for Billy, he was in high spirits and inspired us all as he joined us for our weekly meeting at 7:30am in the Brick House.

He was very happy to receive his gift and said his 'thanks' to all present.

We are looking forward very much to the Billy's Buddies walk on Saturday October 5th at 10am.  Complete information here.

The club was very happy to welcome 8 of the 17 students that we sponsored to attend RYLA 2013 in Pennsylvania.  RYLA is a week long camp where young people learn leadership skills and team building.  As one student reminded us "Teams make leaders and leaders make a team".

Isabela Cipriani will be an exchange student from Brazil attending Ramapo HS for the upcoming school year. She will be hosted by three other families in the local school district area. Isabela comes from a town 100 miles south of San Pablo, and she is very interested in studying graphic design at Ramapo, as well as, prepare for university in Brazil when she returns.

The inhabitants in and around Mandeville, Jamaica are among the poorest of the poor. May live in card board huts. For a minor investment, the Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary was able to build a real house for a family selected by the Diocese of Mandeville. Here the family takes possession of their new home.Image

Every year Billy's Buddies, a support and advocacy group for parents of children with Downs Syndrome, sponsors a "Buddy Walk" in Wyckoff to raise funds and awareness for Downs Syndrome. This year the Buddy Walk will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10:00 at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. Last year over 1,400 participated in the walk.

The Wyckoff-Midland Park Rotary Club is proud to have been a sponsor of this event from the start, and to contribute as an Official Sponsor of the Walk.

Here Rotary President Andy Garlick presents Billy's Buddies President Christine Hourihan with a check for $1,000 to sponsor this year's event.
